The TRAINING SCHOOL The Training School with its attractive colonial architecture and its excellent teaching staff is an integral part of both campus and curriculum at Memphis State College. There under the supervision of the Training School faculty, prospective teachers have the opportunity to work with pupils from the first grade through junior high school, under conditions similar to those they will face when they are graduated into the teaching profession. In addition to actual classroom teaching, student teachers work with junior high school students in directing plays, conducting choruses, and supervising other extra- curricular activities which are given great emphasis in the Training School as being an essential part of the well-rounded student ' s education. The purpose of the Training School is definitely two-fold, for it seeks to produce good students by affording them the requisites of good citizenship, and to produce good teachers by endowing them with a responsible philosophy of teaching and a command of the techniques of effective instruction.
