ALFRED LOARING-CLARK In keeping with an ever increasing sentiment for a better football team on tfie part of tfie alumni, students, faculty, and friends of State Teacfiers College, its entire athletic program has been completely reorganized. An Athletic Association, composed of approximately 150 business men and friends of the College, has been formed. The function of this organization is to support and sponsor, both morally and financially, the new football program. The officers of the Association are Reverend Alfred Loaring-Clark, President; Sawyer Campbell, Vice-President; and Charley Gates, Secretary- Treasurer. The entire administration of the football program is in the hands of a ne A ' Athletic Com- mittee which is composed of Dr. Webb Key, Chairman; R. W. Barnes, from Bells, is the boy who causes you to bite your finger-nails down to the first joint when he lets loose a long slow from behind the 17 foot line. You oughta see the percentage of them he has made! MILTON MAYO (Forward) This lad from Cades, Tennessee, has the honor of being the Teachers high scorer for the past season. BARTHEL GRAY (Guard) The Gray-Boy is deception itself when his copious hands hold the ball. FHis passes hit the spot. His tosses hit the basket. What more can be asked of a good guard? FRANCIS SCHWAIGER (Forward) The main bulwark of the team on defense,- one of the most accurate tossers on offense. A fellow who has the stuff, but modestly hesitates showing it. RILEY HARRIS (Center) This sky-scraping senior from the community of Bolivar utilizes to the fullest each separate one of his seventy-five inches, thereby being a bangup basketball player.   31 ««   t)C$€T€.1937 «« BASKETBALL JIMMY GRANTHAM (Forward) Jim, d sophomore, can do anything with a basketball that it is legal to do. With a fine record behind him, he will be a regular performer next year. ALBERT TUCKER (Forward) A senior, who saw service two years ago, was unable to play this year until the latter part of the season. FHis speed made him a valuable substitute. WILSON MOORE (Guard) Another sophomore, Sleepy has assimilated an astounding amount of basketball knowledge this past season. Added to what he already knew, Sleepy will soon be ripe. ALTON GARDNER (Guard) A big, fast reserve guard, Gardner has done good work, particularly on defense, being of wide wing- spread and capable of covering the court adequately. FHe will be a valuable asset next year to Mr. Curlin. MARSHALL JONES (Guard) Still another sophomore, young Bursar Jones has one of the best working knowledges of deceptive tactics among the entire squad. Height is a factor against him — not lack of ability.   52 ««   D E $ € T € 1 9 J 7 «« FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM Top Row (Left to Ri ' sht): James Stroupe, Ralph Randolph, Richard Simmons.
