Training for college seniors and instruction for the pupils is the two-fold purpose of the State Teachers College Training School which was built and officially opened in 1923. The school provides six months training in observational and actual teaching for approximately 125 college seniors each year. Each student is assigned to a classroom teacher for that particular grade, and in addition, permitted to participate in as many school activities as he desires. In addition, the school provides an apportunity for directed observation for students other than seniors. The training school is under the administration of the college and is partially maintained by the City Board of Education. It has a faculty of fifteen teachers, all but one having M.A. degrees and having had more than four years ' experience in supervision and instruction. R. M. Robison, principal, is director of practice teaching. A consistent program of recreation is carried out with the help of the physical education department of the college. This year the girls basketball team was runner-up in the district junior high tournament. •♦«E 19 H-
