Al- though we are a young team (only two seniors) and a rela- tively small team (20 members). Every girl gave at least 100%, if not more. It was not only a great team but also a group of fine individuals. It was a pleasure to be associated with such a fine team. We would like to give a special congratulations to Ms. Biliki for her honorary title of COACH of the Year. Congratulations! 68 Back Row: Coach John Bacholzky, Frank Bishop, John Rhodes, Kevin Mazur, Benny George, Dennis Burns. Front Row: Kevin Billingsley, Paul Jelenik, Pat Leuth, Mike Morris, Dave Guerin. Benny George- 100 yd. Dash The 1977 Track Team performed well, although the rec- ord did not indicate so. A major problem was the lack of participants. The ten member team attempted to succeed at a sport that requires a minimum of 25 men. A very positive encouragement is that all of the 1977 members will be re- turning lettermen. They will serve as a very fine nucleus for the ’78 season, coupled with several promising freshman. The outlook for next year is very good. A definite advantage to track is that it is both a TEAM and individual sport. A team may suffer due to lack of mem- bers, but separately, each runner can strive and satisfy per- sonal goals and experience success. Next years goal is to achieve success in both catagories. The class of 1977-78 has a great deal to be proud of, especially the desire of and example of its leaders. Everyone of the ten senior mem- bers of our football team made a valuable contribution to the most suc- cessful year ( 7 wins) in Memphis Football History. This years football team was an outstanding combination of leadership, hard work, and determination. We established a school record for wins (7) and provided our fans with enough excitment to last a lifetime. Several players on our team achieved individual goals and received a great deal of noteriety, but it was the sum total of a team effort that made for our success throughout the season. My specific congratulations go to our ten seniors who are fine leaders and inspired us to do great things. There may never be a more exciting (depressing) ending to a championship ballgame than our overtime game with Almont. Our team played superbly in shutting out for 4 quarters. Our young men know what it is to work hard and then be rewarded for that input. We are looking forward to a great deal of success in our football program for many years to come. Discipline, Hark work, Determination and Leadership are the reasons our program has been successful. Many thanks go out to all the people who have worked so hard with our football team.
