To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe. When you dream, dream big! En revant, revez grandement. A1 sonar, ten un sueno grande Wenn du traumst, traume gross. Quando sognate, fate die grandi sogni. Copyright Argus Communications 1975 ..... . Webber Debate We wouldn’t have had a debate team if it weren’t for the hard work and the enthu- siam of Phillis LeTarte and Penny Moran. The girls spent many hours training new de- baters only to lose them for various reasons. Despite discouraging set-backs, Penny and Phillis were able to retain their original optimism. Even though our league record was not the best we all learned a lot through our de- bate program. We ended up with a 3-21 record in a new league we entered as a “learn- ing experience.” The Middle Macomb League, made up of A and B schools, taught us a lot about technique. Phillis LeTarte took high speaker trophy for our school in this league. Through the struggles we encountered we still did a fine job and have high hopes for next season. A very speical thanks to Alice Melat and Sharon Groth who made a last minute res- cue. With only five hours notice they became members of the Debate Team so that we were able to honor our commitment at the District Debates. In this we placed 2nd overall in class D. On our squad this year we have no seniors, for this reason we feel that next year we will be able to better our- selves to be number 1 . Tom Miller This years edition of the yellowjacket football team was a very fine group to be associated with. We were rated in at least one state poll for a period of time. Next year’s prospects appear bright since we are losing just three seniors from this year’s team. It will take an awful lot of hard work by every team member to achieve our 1977 goals, but with their determin- ation greater accomplishments are just on the horizon. Our team put in many long hours during the summer. If we can continue to work hard and be patient we will reach and surpass that fine line that separates the good basketball program from the very good win- ing program. Patience and hard work are the keys to turn our pn r,r m around. Tournament before losing his final match 12-10. For his achievements and leadership. Rick is the 1976-77 Most Valuable Wrestler. Ed Burg Sophomore Ed Burg came close to accomplishing a feat ever athletic strives for, an undefeated season. Even though he fell a hair short, Ed still had the best wres- tling year in history. He won 26 straight matches. In every one of his victories he pinned his opponent, many in under 30 seconds. He was the gold metal winner in every tournament, he was this year’s until losing his last match at the Regional Tournament 2-1. This was evident at the tail end of the schedule when we were able to outpoint 4 teams after a very dismal start. Hopefully, the improvement will cany over into the 76 season with the return of all but one of last years letter winners. The graduation of Don Blake, last years Most Valu- able Player, will place a heavy burden on the upcoming field events men. The prospects in the middle-distance and long-distance runners will hopefully compensate for Blakes absence. 88 Varsity Girls Track Top Row: Coach Bilicki, Deb Bishop, Beth Schott, Trudy Dalecki, Mary Jo Swidersky, Rosyln Price, Manager: Cindy Yeak.
