I EAN MCCARLEY ONDAY night, May 13, 1940, at 8:00 P. M. the Class play of '40, ulune Mad by Flor- ence Ryerson and Colin Clements was pre- sented in tlfq auditorium. The play was the story of a typical American family. The ggction revolved around Penelope Wood, fCarolyn'HunterJ, and her childhood companion, Chuck Harris, fSigmund Hillerl. Penny, believing herself to be a woman of the world, although she was only fifteen years old, learned her lesson the hard way. Roger Van Fleck, fFulton Wilkinsl, play- ed the part of a typical flatterer who flatters any girl in his vicinity. Dr. and Mrs. Wood, the parents of Penny, were played by George Morrow and lanice Ost. Penny's trials and tribulations served as a light, awakening remembrances of their youth. Effie and Elmer, the housekeeper and house boy who furnished comedy throughout, were played by Ladye Margaret Craddock and Bill Drenner. Bennie Littlejohn played the part of G. Meroyn Roberts, Mrs. Woods' brother. His current love, lulia Harris, was played by lean McCarley. Much of the comedy in the play was furnished by Gloria Lea as Milly Lou, the neighborhood brat. Mr. Harris, the seemingly stern father of Chuck and lulie, was portrayed by Ted Allen. Shirley and Ralph Wentworth, two neighborhood children, were player by Clare Williams and Dick Heehs. The entire cast sincerely wishes to thank every- body who helped in the presentation of the play.
