'l'he organization was completed and every detail satisfied except the one big feature, and that was the securing of responsible backers to help in the successful pub- lishing of the book from a financial standpoint. 1 Various organizations and agencies were solicited, but no definite assurance was given us as circumstances unfavorable to their alignment with our cause were before us. As all our efforts seemed for naught and we were becoming desperate we appealed to that ever loyal class of friends of Central High School. Five men responded and elected to work with us, banding into a committee with Lawrence S. Akers, acting as chairman, and George Klorris, Andrew Donelson, Clyde L. Van Fossan and -lames D. Collier as committeemen. The Staff is deeply appreciative to them for their most helpful efforts and sincere endeavors in advancing our interests.
