CLASS CDF 1981 Mr. Poss discusses the joys of being senior sponsor : You ask what being senior class sponsor is like? lt's like eing 'Mother' to 607 kids. What does a senior class spon- ar do? 1. Meet with senior officers to plan senior activities. 2. Meet with senior board to implement activities. 3. Monitor expenditures of the class funds. The sponsorship can be fun and very exciting when of- cers and board members are willing to participate and rganize events. When the officers do not participate, and xpect the sponsor to hold their hand and do everything for mem, they have a misconception of why they were elected J office. Why 'Mother'? Well, at the end of the year, I have to make .ire that all 607 kids are dressed in cap and gown, and 1ere's always a last minute crisis! Such as, the girl whose ead measured 6 and V4 at the beginning of the year, but fter her perm, measured 7. Or, how about the basketball layer who suddenly grew 2 between measurement in the ill and fitting in the spring? How do you select a band for we Prom? You listen to 20 or 30 groups, let everyone offer n opinion, then get five people to make a choice and hope mr the best. Being a sponsor is a fun job when the officers are eager to ilfill the responsibility they have assumed. - 4: 4 T . fu ' J fl -5 .1 The senior board sponsored a variety of activities, making it a very busy and productive year. At the beginning of the year, seniors sold fresh doughnuts each Friday morning in the cafeteria. The sell of Memorial t-shirts brought considerable profits. Seniors also won first place in the float contest at homecoming. It is the responsibility of the board to make ar- rangements for the senior prom. Seniors went all out this year by electing to have this spectacular event at the exclusive downtown Williams Hotel. The prom's theme song, ap- propriately chosen, was These Are the Best of Times. The board also handled graduation announcement orders, cap and gown orders, the annual senior breakfast, and senior assembly. Yes, it was a very busy year! 1. Tom Poss, senior class sponsor. 2. The doughnut selling business went down the hole. 3. Seniors wait patiently to get their class picture made. 4. Seniors line up to buy their class picture. 5. Eric Quandt measures Theresa Kerpon's head to determine her cap size. 6. Mrs. McDougal demonstrates the proper way to wear a graduation cap. .gil WeWl0I'y Stall? .NOWQP 1963-1980 .gn memory yeniffer Jgozey 1963-1981 Classes 21
