i KENNETH J. BAYS Mr. Bays As principal Mr. Kenneth Bays dedicated many hours of work to increase the standard of education at Memorial. He demonstrated his pride and spirit in the school not only by presiding over assemblies and faculty meetings but also by offering support to the Chargers at school events. His interest and participation increased school unity and rap- port between students and administration. In addition to his position as principal, Mr. Bays was a Lt. Colonel in the Air Na- tional Guard Program. Many of his leisure hours were spent in fulfilling the practice flying requirements of that organization. The past year was Mr. Bays' fifteenth year with the Guard. Mr. Bays qualified for school principal after he graduated from Southwest Missouri State College with a B.S. and from the University of Tulsa with a M.Ed. He received his professional diploma in 1959. Mr. Bays prepares to taxi onto the runway. Mr. Bays jogs his daily mile before breakfast

School Board The Tulsa School Board dedicated many hours of work to raise the standards of ed- ucation in Tulsa to the highest in the state. The goal of the board was to maintain this excellence by revising the school curriculum periodically to meet the needs of the stu- dents, The 1968-69 school year marked the retirement of Dr. Charles Mason who served twenty-seven years as superintendent of schools and executive officer of the hoard. on. cHARLEs c. Throughout the year these people gave en- couragement and advice to many students.
