Belva Mettner. ee English classes at MHS teach students to appreciate great works of the past and present and to express their thoughts clearly and fluently. Students in eleventh and twelfth grades study the chronological development of literature in America and England. In the advanced program, outstanding students working a year ahead, study college-level world literature in their senior year. The four-year program is supplemented with journalism and reading courses. Top students participate in the Ready-Writers contest of the Interscholastic League. 26

SITTING: Selma Spaeth, Hazel Fluellen, Viola Ognoskie, Vivian Goddard. Our Service Personnel, laboring long and hard in the best interests of M.H.S., are extremely deserving of our recognition. The cafeteria and snack bar staffs work early in the morning to prepare lunches for approximately 3000 people. Helping to keep a smooth flow of traffic before and after school is a difficult job held by our responsible patrolman. Our building engineer and his crew keep the school and its grounds in excellent condition. W. H.
