Jerry Kroll gained all- tournament honors for the second straight year by net- ting 68 points in the four games. Jerry Kroll (42) hits for two against Davis, while Roland Carter (54) follows up. Houston Jaycee Unsuccessful for the first time in 1964-65 tournament play, the Mustangs were upset in ‘their second outing by Robert E. Lee of Houston, 50-48. In the first game against Brazosport, the Ponies ran over the Exporters, 71-60, with Jerry Kroll netting 30 points.

Determined Kroll up a determined defense and fouled up the Bears Kroll takes a Bear rebound. Bramlette (11), Eagles Plucked, 101-44 Returning to three figures, Memorial walloped the Smi- ley Eagles, 101-44 at Smiley. It marked the third game in district play that the Mustangs have rounded up more than 100 points, the fourth time for the season. Jerry Kroll led the fast-breaking Mustangs with 22 points to his credit. Following this game, the Ponies stood 4-0 in district play. Tigers Bounce, 84-44 Spring Woods challenged the Mustangs for the first time in history on January 19, 1965, and fell very hard, 84-44, The game took place in the Memorial gym, where no defeat befell the Mustangs in 1965. Jerry Kroll sparked the team with 28 points. Bears Fall, 52-36 January 22 marked the day that Memorial moved into first place alone. Previously they were tied with Spring Branch, who was also undefeated. The Mustangs mustered ‘ “slow down” game. The final score was 52-36. Memorial made 18 of 18 free throws in the game and Kent Taylor popped in 17 points for Pony scoring honors. This game was a milestone for the Mustangs in 1965. |
