Editing the ANVIL, the print- ed newspaper, is Karen Hodges. Karen has served in various capacities during ther sophomore and junior years and has attend. ed the publications workshop, held at A M University, for two consecutive summers. Kit Barkan, a staffer with a year’s experience, will fill the position of managing editor. Hoofprints, Best Buy at MHS ial Appearing originally last year as a one- sheet, three-penny paper, the Hoofprints expanded in size this year to four pages and in price to five cents. Published twice a week, Hoofprints was prepared by a small staff of Memorial students with the support of the journalism classes. Co-edi- tors Sheri Nelson and Julie Kefauver wel- comed all editorial comments and feature items from the student body itself, often joing to great pains to see that the censor didn’t completely demolish each master- piece before it went to press. Money was not a foreign subject to the Hoofprints staff, for the nickels kept rolling in every Tuesday and Friday after- noon during lunch. Business manager, Cindy Camp, and her helper, Linda Muel- ler, kept the funds under lock and key. Feature editor, Tim Fleck, and Illustra- tions editor, Bill Narum, provided the predominately female staff with the “checks and balances” which were often necessary in meeting deadlines. Mueller, T. Fleck. and contributing some of the paper’s most subtle (?) humor. Unsung heroes were Roger Tournour and Irene Pollock who labored many hours helping Mrs. Pritchett run the printing machine. Staff members combined work and play in composing their publication. 204
