The annual Sangerfest, a caroling program sponsored by the Memorial Union of German Students, was held on December 17, in the auditorium. In spite of a major power failure, spirits remained warm and the program con- tinued spotlighted by flashlights. The French Club captured, for the second consecutive year, the blue ribbon for the out- standing group of fifteen or more participants. Sigma Gamma won first place in small group competition. A skit “The Modernization of Santa Claus”, written and presented by Ger- man students, brought the curtain down on a most enjoyable evening. Sam Torn and Mrs. Mildred Shuford put the finishing touches on the tree during one of the many homeroom Xmas parties. ee Tis the Season...” Miss Caloma Lafferty conducts the Chorale during the Christmas Vespers. The festive Christmas spirit manifested itself at M.H.S. in door decorating, traditional Christmas trees, choir concerts, homeroom parties, and caroling through the halls. The Camera Club sponsored a door decorating contest, in which Mr. Bob Cornelius’ homeroom took first place for the “Most Attractive Decoration”, while Mrs. Geraldine. Boyle’s home- room captured the blue ribbon award in the “Most Humorous Decoration” category. (Other winners are pictured.) This year, the Student Council had the privilege of buying and decorating the school Christmas tree, which was placed in the auditorium foyer. Then, climaxing the pre-Christmas activities on a melodic note, the Chorale and Chantelairs pre- sented a vesper service in the auditorium on Wednesday night, December 23. menos’ homeroom entertained children from Faith Home with a party.
