At an AFS meeting, Merry Hill demonstrated the use of her Turkish waterpipe. By buying apples, students help AFS raise eighty dollars. A.F.S. Fosters Coming to M e m o r i al from Toulouse, France, Myline Perisse was this year's ex- change student. In October the annual AFS Tea was held in her honor. To commemorate National Education Week, the members of AFS sponsored an apple sale. Candy canes were then sold at Christmas time. Penny Wednesday , which was a system of saving pennies, was another new idea to earn mon- ey. All these created interest in the Student Exchange Program. In January, Jill Anderson, a Memorial senior, returned from spending one year in New Zealand. While there, she attended school with her sister',, Elizabeth Fyfe. During the summer of 1969 another Me- morial student, Merry Hill, spent three months in Turkey. As most other exchange students, Merry found her stay in Turkey a rewarding experience.

German club officers: Karen Thompson, Diana Peterson, Yvonne Carroll, and Mike Gilbert, dis- cuss German club plans. Language Clubs Enhance Linguistics Memorial students take advantage of French club candy sales. MHS students showed an interest in for- eign affairs through the use of Language clubs. Junior Classical League sent four stu- dents to the state convention at Green Lake. Candy sales were a major activity for French club members. The Ballet Folklorico was attended by Spanish club members. German club activities included various speakers and a picnic to end the year. Latin club officers: Linda Rubesch, Rebecca Litman, Robbie Schwartz, and Amy Converse support Latin Power.
