Talent Is Revealed Improvements in the a r t department caused an increase of about 25 students. Slides and a projector were purchased for more visual contact. The students' use of cop- per enameling and an a d d i t i o n al potters wheel also enriched the course. Miss Martin, an intern teacher, aided Mr. Killen with the art classes during the first semester. .Mn- 's.., ,,,.,W, Carolyn Buza helps paint a sign of the school emblem for the Co-op parking lot. Art students draw Bonnie Boyken as she poses for them. NNN i Varieties of color can be made by mixing paints. Experimenting on still lifes are Darlene Gordon and Cindy Rhude.

Murphy type out final copy for the Wings,'. id if Wings Stir Controversy Two new sections, including letters to the editor and correspondence with former Memorial students in Vietnam, were used to put more life into the Wings this year. The staff, advised by Mr. Kinney, established an Editorial Council to debate controversial is- sues. The policy was to present both sides of problems that affect Memorial students and the community. Editor, Lauray Yule, prepares tO leave for Graphic to pick up the Purple Wings. ..-Q: B. Nowak, S. Peterson, D. Hanson, and J. Peterson discuss final copies.

Enlarging pictures is only one of the activities of the photography class. Students display many different types of cameras. Sorting the good quality and the poor quality pictures takes much time. sm-.,,,m .EN sas- Q ,. ......,.,,,,-.,,,-N sqm, i In 'ex X Pictures Tell a Story Besides learning to take pictures and to develop them, the photography class also plays a major role in depicting the activities of the school in pictures. Because of the in- creased request for the course, ten or fifteen students had to be turned away. A new elec- tronic light and enlarger were purchased this year, and for the first time the staff had an opportunity to work with colored prints. A lifetime hobby is many times an out- growth of the class. 'at Obtaining the right contrast is dif- ficult. Printing pictures involves timing.
