Area Schools Progress In 1961, the consolidation of the Eau Claire Area Schools took place and is now under the direction of one school board. Con- sisting of eight members, the board annually handles routine problems such as the budget, development, and negotiations in the salaries of teachers and custodians. Other subjects discussed this year were new programming in the elementary school, data processing, and modular scheduling. The issue of whether a new junior high school should be built has been tossed about for the past two years. On November 18, a referendum was held and part of the Town of Union rejected it. This area was the pro- posed site of the school. Now, a new location must be found if a school is to be built. , V, lit,gffQ1f.'fHvf1 fix lam- Marvin Lansing looks ahead in the future with much ambition as the new superintendent. J. Thorson K.
