Memorialls Old Abe football team finished the 1969-'70 season in a first place tie with Wausau for the Big Rivers Conference Cham- pionship. The Abes shattered several Big Rivers records, while leading in offense and having the number two defense in the con- ference. Tom Poquette was the leading rusher and point scorer, and Rich Hagen led the team in pass receptions. Both Poquette and Hagen were elected to the All State teams. All State quarterback, Greg Bohlig, was also named Big Rivers Most Valuable Player. Three underclassmen, Brian Tainter, Allen Hanson, and Jeff Vorpahl, excelled in Varsity play and Will provide the nucleus for next year's team.
