In the third quar- ter jerry Kent skirted end for fourteen yards and six points and moments later he went in again from the one yard line to climax the Abe's longest scoring offensive. A Semor Studded VQISIIY MENOMINEE TOPPLES ABES 34 19 The Purple lost 3419 to a strong confer ence rival Menommee Mich The Abes trailing 270 in the third quar ter attempted a comeback which fell one TD short late rn the fourth quarter Jim Van Gor den tossed a 35 yard scoring pass to George Bowman to start the Abes off Minutes later Van Gorden went over from the one yard line to make it 2713 after Zurbachens con version Joltln john Zurbachen charged seven yards for a score late in the fourth quarter to complete Abe sconng Tom Garnett and Dan Roscoe did a bang up Job of defensing the fleet Maroon backs ABES TRIUMPH OVER LACROSSE 19 6 Quarterback John Coggms back in action after more than a month on the sidelines piloted the Purple to their third win in four starts As John entered the game in the third quarter the Abes led 6 0 on account of George Bowman's shifting 50 yard TD romp. A Coggins to Van Gorden handoff netted 43 yards and an Abe tally. The last Abe score came late in the fourth quarter as Zurbachen charged up the middle and went 40 yards for six points.
