Class History 1 As we entered Memorial four years ago, we were une- ducated spiritually, mentally, and in our hearts. But since that time, we have come to know many things. Discoveries came from books. Amazing stories, The Great Mollasses Crisis , and sad stories of Biafria pierced our apathetic being. We learned to comfort others in their losses and to rejoice with them in hap- py times. We learned that teachers were human. l They became our friends - not just our superiors. Unsatisfied with what we first encountered here at Memorial, we joined in the upheaval of change. The Barnacle, an underground newspaper, developed by upperclassmen, proved to be a good place to reveal our more controver- sial thoughts. Since one cannot live with out food, we began to think of ourselves as connisseurs of fine food. Cafeteria eating was not full-filling our desires. A boycott was organized and brown bagging became the style. When sandwiches be- came boring, we retumed to eating hot lunches but our taste buds were still screaming . President Nixon and Vice-President Agnew entered office. While some looked on with speculation, we were willing to wait and give them a chance in hopes of once again uniting the nation. 107
