They were Marion Cattin and Norman McMillin. Gary Horne quit the first six weeks and Dorothy Shultz came down with rheumatic fever the last of January so we have only a class of thirteen now. We elected the following officers. Larry Evertson ---- ------ President Dean Miller---- ---- -----Vice President Dennis Gregg ------ - ----- Secretary and Treasurer Dale Knight-------------Reporter We started the year colecting scrap paper as a class project but the building we had our paper in burned down so now we've decided to try our luck at selling garden seed. On November 13th we held a raffle, dance and social in the high school auditorium to raise money to help build up our class funds. Each student donated something for the social. i On March 12th the Sophomores along 'withl the other classes in school journeyed to Kansas City for a very en- joyable trip. We ate a very nice lunch, prepared by Marshall's, at Swope Park and of course we looked the animals over before we left the park. In the afiernbpn we visited the auto show in the Municipal Auditorium and saw two games of the N. A. I. B. Tournament. In the evening we saw three more games of the tournaments before starting home. We want to thank all the people who made our trip possible, expecially Mr. Thist1ewaite.a i' o On April l9the the Sophomore class held an ice cream social in the Penny Supper Hall. We were VQPY 19193535 with the turnout and we c eared over 320.00 which will go toward our plans in the future. h I' 1 . , t . bv A , ll. 4, . ' . 1- ' . :1, - ' 'F K 1-'- T I1 . Both of these formations proved very effective when the team was going right. Even though we didn't take the conference, we put out one of the snappiest looking teams in the conference, with our new nylon spasms and new plastic helments. Although we lost all of our games but two, we had wonderful sup- port from the townsneonle, in fact as far as attendance is concerned we had the best in the last three or four years. This year was spent mostly in building, therefore, next yearns should have one of the better teams in the conference. All of the boys have a fierce desire to Win so how can we go wrong next season. Duane Miller has developedaxvery fine passing arm and should prove to be a big help in our plans for next year. Of course we are going to miss such ram rods as Jack Brewer and Stacy Johansen who were the spark plugs for the team this year. This year we had a little bad luck when Larry Sedgwick broke his collar bonein the Overbrook game and then we were very limited on re- serves with Dale Richardson,Dean 0'Brien, George Lang and little Dave Kendall doing most of the substituting. Another blow fell when Paul Gkier failed to attend Melvern last year and went to Topeka. When next season ooens lets still have as good patronage as we had this last season and maybe we can make you glad you went along with us in our lean years.
