MR. CLARENCE C. HOLDEN Principal 7kg 3780f M 9 1r 0 s e High School, featuring the new-look this year, has lived up to, and in some cases exceeded, my ex- pectations and predictions of last year to you. We have made dramatic strides for- ward in both the areas of athletic en- deavor and in scholastic attainment. School spirit has been at an unprece- dented high. Many peOple have wondered what has happene d to effect such a radical change from the Melrose School of the past. My answer to this is one word within the grasp and practice of every- one -- cooperation. Cooperation is not a one-way street with only the principal being expected to c 0 Op e r ate . When the parents, students, and teachers, as well as the principal, cooperate with each other toward building a school, there is no limit to what can be achieved. Let's keep up the fine spirit of cooperation, now that we have it! Yours truly, Mam Al x ' 112 x N x Dedication Through the years of high school, we have been guided by your love and interest. Fortunate are we, for having one so under- standing and patient. Your humor has added cheer to many a class- room andnas shown that work can be pleasant. The Seniors acknow- ledge this by dedicating the 1961 edition of the Melrose Bulldog to our teacher, and our friend. An orchid to you, Mrs. Stephenson! 6 HOME ECONOMICS MRS. FRANCES STEPHENSON B0 8.; Women's College of North Carolina
