The two major things motivating summer employment are the high price of college and the need for pocket money. Amy Walsh worked at the Chipyard in Faneuil Halt. She worked eight hours a day, seven days a week. “It was awesome. Kim Ngo worked at a camp for abled disabled children. Her most memorable experience was when an extremely targe nine year old began to slap, grab, and punch the other people on the boat to George ' s Island. “It was the best job I ever had! Don Felker worked forty hours a week at happy ' s Liquors bottle return. “Hiccough— no comment. Kerry O ' Leary worked 45-60 hours a week at the outdoor YMCA pool. Her funniest experience was when two frogs were found m the less than crystal clear deep end. “It was fantastic to get paid while getting tan. Tama Wadland worked at Anton’s Cleaners. “My summer was really good. These memories of summer ‘87 ' will remain with us as we enter the real work world. This was the last summer of our childhood. You ' re sleeping soundly in your bed. A frightful buzzing fills your head “ What is that noise? you say, 4s that ring chases sleep away. 7 have to get up, what a bummer, Up before dawn m the middle of summer. Joining a race with no reason or rhyme— What a way to spend your time. Why 7 , you ask, “must it be this way? But you need money to pay your way. So get out of bed. Don ' t be a dork — You’ll end up being late for work! Erin Murphy battles with a customer who ' s trying to return unwashed bottles. 11

Think waaaaay back to our first year at Melrose High School. Do you remember this night ' 1 About one hundred sophomores dressed up in their wildest Hawai- ian duds to grace the dance floor in the cafetorium. For three and one half hours we engaged in hula dancing, party trams, and a back breaking limbo contest amidst huge paper flowers and brightly colored leis. Adding to the fun were the fabulous dance techniques of class advisors Mrs. Kossuth and Mr. Gillick. Without a doubt, this was definitely one of the most memorable nights during our time here at M.H.S. . . . Aloha!
