s t u d e n t C o n g r e s s Every large group needs a structured system of leadership. The student govern- ment at M.H.S. pro- vides the opportunity to learn what govern- ment is all about. Each class elects a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, two representatives, and fifteen student congress members. Student government members participate in a variety of functions at M.H.S. These in- clude the Christmas party, the Halloween party. Junior and Senior Proms, the Winter Ball, Blood- mobiles, and supervi- sion of the smoking area. Student govern- ment members are also involved in state and local activities. They organized a “Class T-Shirt campaign, par- ticipated actively in all-school ac- tivities and charities, and got a new site for the Junior Prom. Logue (representative), Mrs. Moulaison (advisor). The sophomore class officers and student congress members worked diligently on their first task of the year — that of col- lecting class dues. The laborious assignment of ask- ing their fellow classmates daily in homeroom to donate their fair share for the benefit of the en- tire class treasury was no easy job. After nearly a month of hard work, a sizable amount of money was collected enabling the class to put an early deposit on a func- tion room for their junior prom.
