The Mountaineering Club focused on three major activities: camping, hiking and rock climbing. Several outings were conducted in the White Mountains with all the peaks of the Southern Presidential Range being reached. Rock climbing was done at Artist’s Bluff in the Franconia Range and also at the Quincy Quarry, a familiar crag in suburban Boston. At all times, high priorities were placed upon safety in wilderness travel, group cooperation and support, and an appreciation for the power and delicacy of the mountain environment. Probably the most popular activity was rock climbing which many of the members took up with great enthusiasm.

They march in football games, competitions and parades, through the rain, snow, mud; they even sit in it. Pouring rain in Barnstable — it only rains on us! Where are my gloves? five minutes! Practices in the gym, out on the dark field, Knoll, and Pine Banks. Disco Dance, Go Laurie!! Get Down! What time does practice start? Brunch at Joanne’s. Lakes at the Knoll. Changing in the back room. Hurry up flags! Anyone have any shoe polish! M M’s on the bus, Snoopy, New World, Porgy, Ready to Take a Chance Again. Where’s my hat? When does practice get over?
