The Winter show featured a variety of popular songs while the Spring show featured music from Broadway productions. The girls needed no dancing experience, although it was helpful. Officers lead warm-up sessions for all the club members where new dance steps were taught and the girls worked on their dances for the shows. Either individually or in groups, the girls chose the music, choreographed the steps, and made their own costumes. When the rehearsals, work, and costumes were finished, the performers proved entertaining and successful. PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB There was a lot of “shoot- ing” at Melrose High this year. Armed with 35-mm cameras and film, members of the photography club practised their “marksmanship” on anything that stood in their way. They experimented with a wide variety of techniques in using photography as a mode of expression and art. Members concentrated on improving their skills and in developing and printing film in the school’s well-equipped darkroom after school. The more successful members had some of their prints displayed in the Resource Center. Such “exposure” served as an encouragement for more advanced work. First row - Mrs. Marsh, advisor, S. Goodwin, P. Martone, D. Snook, L. Patterson, S. Conners, D. Hatfield. 2nd row - P. Smith, S. Moore. GENESIS Although the major prob- lem of the members of Gene- sis, the schools art and literary magazine, was their own apathy, some of them did have the morale to have a bake sale in the cafetorium, with the hopes of raising money for their two publica- tions this year. (They raised a grand total of twenty-two dollars.) The members, with the help of their advisor, Ms. Plume, assemble a magazine consisting of stories, essays, poetry, artwork and photo- graphy, submitted by talented MHS students. First row - L. Swanstrom, E. Eriksen, L. Marshall, L. Schmidt, R. Smith, R. DeFran za. 2nd row - M. Tillinghast, G. Trifaro, M. Wetherill, C. Brown, L. Wessling, C. Hooton. 3rd row - Mrs. Plume, J. Taylor, S. Goodwin, D. Hatfield, S. Sofia.
