Broken down into three parts, Student Congress, Class Officers and the Financial Board, the government is a group of students who work to let the student voice be heard and to organize and implement activities and projects throughout the school year. Services which the Congress has initiated include: Sophomore Guidance Orientation, Sophomore handbook and changing of study hall procedures. This year the Congress organized the Powderpuff football game, a Christmas party for 600 elderly residents of Melrose, a student activities sign-up period, elections and other services and projects. Class Officers, a major part of the Student Government, plan many activities including the Junior and Senior proms, Class Day and many fund-raising activities. The Financial Board is made up of two sophomores, two juniors and three seniors. Meetings are held in Mr. Croston’s office on Mondays, when necessary. This board allocates and votes on funds allotted to various clubs and activities within the school that are in need of money. The Board is advised by the Student Advisors and Mr. Croston. 8
