enior Clan .Hiatory In September of 1938, the class of nineteen hundred and fifty, took their first great step in life, as they trotted down the lane to the waiting yellow school bus. Of the present nine only four were the original class. These were Anna Mae Hushour, Bernice Hushour, Vivian Nohr, and Allen Zeigler. Richard Reis was one of the original members, but he left us to spend his junior High years at Clinton. In the third grade we gained Norma Williams. Doris Barnes, who came in the eighth grade, Richard Thompson, in the tenth grade, and Betty Keesy in the eleventh grade, complete the nine of the graduating class. Our class history is concluded, and now we, the Seniors of 1950, leave dear old Nelmore to go out and face the world for ourselves. We are sorry to leave and we hope our sojourn has not been too much of a strain on the teachers. We also hope that we can take some of the many valuable teachings we have received out into the world and make good use of them. So we bid farewell. With our class motto to guide us we shall look and find that Behind The Cloud The Cloud Shines.f' enior froplzecy To really pick up the strings of the class of 1950, we will have to go to the date of May 18, 1960. What a lovely day for the gang , remarked Vivian Mohr. Anna Mae accepted her remark with a quiet un-hum-m-m-m. It seems the great day of 'Welcoming the class of l950' had arrived. Vivian was to be the hostess in The Cottage which was still in her family. She however had a job as a secretary at the Seneca County Court House. Her chum and sincere classmate, Anna Mae Hushour was still by her side and helped her plan and prepare things for the homecoming. I guess I better tell you, Anna Iv'ae is still a life long resident of Melmore, and if you haven't already guessed it, she has made her life occupation a housewife. Zoom-m-m-m --------- a plane overhead, getting ready to land. Don't be alarmed, that was only one of the air minded students from our class coming in. Richard Thompson. Oh! did I hear someone say, that wasn't his name? Well it is now. I know back in school maybe you used to call him Skipg but, since he has taken over his new job as the Commander-In-Chief of Eastern Airlines the nation that he is serving seems to like Richard better. Hey Skip, the gang shouted, Have you seen Zig and Dick? We received no comment. As we turned to go inside, we saw the latest thing in Cadillacs glide up and come to a screeching halt. 9
As we stared in astonishment, a chauffeur lightly stepped out and proceeded to open the rear door. Our biggest shock was yet to come, for as we watched in amazement, Allen Ziegler agedly stepped out. We asked him if he had seen anything of the other membersg then, he showed his surprise. He directed his chauffeur to open the backdoor and Norma Williams and Richard Reis joined our party. Now, we began to talk over our adventures during our past ten years. Allen QDOCJ it seems has become an Internal Revenue Collector. Richard Reis has become a prominent New York lawyer, and Norma Williams has acquired quite a name for herself as a fashion designer. In her spare time she models for fashionable dress shops in the down town district of New York. It has been a long hard drive and all the positions -were seemingly earned. Someone said, Doris and Bernice, where are they? Then Anna Mae remarked that she had kept regular correspondence with Bernice, and at the present time she was studying music in London. In some of Bernice's later letters, she had hinted that Doris would accompany her back from London. Well they should be here by three this afternoon, said Anna Mae, at least that's what her telegram said. Since we both knew them to be chums and classmates all through school, we just took it for granted that they would come together. A telephone call came, saying the girls were at the station, so Doc sent his chauffeur after the girls. Later as we talked, we learned what each of the other class member had been doing. Since we seemed to know the least about what Doris had done, we asked her to relay her adventures during the past ten years. There isn't much to tell except that l've been traveling, said Doris. She then described the many beautiful things she had 'seen on her trips. We all knew that Bernice had been studying music in London, so we naturally wondered what she planned on doing after she had finished her studies. Most of us were familiar with some of the popular hit tunes such as That Lucky Old Moon and her Gruesome Blues Polka , but, she has won national acclaim from the New York Civic Opera, were she has given scheduled performances. lt's getting rather late and 1 still have homework to grade, I remarked. Where are you teaching now, Betty? asked Bernice. At Norton Wood, and it's still the Third grade too. Before the gathering broke up, we planned on another meeting in 1975, just 15 years from this day of May 18, 1960. 10
