B'ACK ROW: Forest Routh, Jim Wilson, Raymond Langebartels, Dennis Wadle, Gary Noftsger, Coach Kenneth Sypult, Mervin Miller, Marvin Breese, Don Breese, Billy Kauzlarich, and Ronnie Kautlarich. The Melcher Football Team, defeated only once in eight games, enjoyed one of the finest seasons in its history this year. The defeat, coming in the last game of the season, was a hard fought contest at which the conference championship was at stake. We had a fine back- field even though we lost three out of four men from graduation last year. Through experience this year's line was better than last. Coach Kenneth Sypult had a difficult job this year coaching both the line and the .backfield because ofthe lack of an assistant coach, Mr. Sypult made the most of what he had and turned in one of the finest records in the state. The following boys made the Southern Seven All-Conference Teams: First Team Second Team Honorable Mention Bill Durham B Larry Polich G Marvin Breese B Max Wright G Don Anderson T Jim Monaco T John Kissinger E John Karpan E SEASON'S RECORD Melcher Opponents Melcher Opponents 12 Carlisle 7 28 Lacona 7 6 Murray 0 14 Pleasantville 6 20 Humeston 6 35 Allerton 13 32 Lineville 0 7 Garden Grove 20 BROUGHT TO YOU BY: HAWKEYE MILL, Knoxville, Iowa 40
