Melcher warriors began practice on August 25, 1955, under the direction of Head Coach,Ke1th D. Hopkins and Assistant Coach,Glen Johnson. Twenty-six boys reported for practice to prepare themselves for an eight-game schedule. Melcher enjoyed one ot the best football seasons it has had for a number of years. The first game of the season, with Carlisle, was handled rather easily -- 59-O. Humeston measured Melcher for its only loss -- 25-7. On October 30, Melcher played Garden Grove for the Conference Championship. The game ended in a tie, Melcher placing second. John McCullough, John Milosevic, Tom Pezzetti, Jack Fortune, and Louie Karpan made the WA1l-Conference Team.' WHonorable Mentionn went to Leonard Dhabalt, Jack Rankin, and Darwin Tobin. Melcher scored 173 points -- opposition, 64.
