Oskaloosa Bound On the morning of September 28, 1950, the Seniors were all trying to look their best. Some succeeded, others didn't. We were off to Oskaloosa to have Mr. Fitch take our pictures. By noon, we had all of our pictures taken and we were ready for a big afternoon. That evening, we bought food for a picnic supper and went out to Lake Keoma. Just as we had our fire going good, it started to rain, so we hunted the lodge. After cleaning up the lodge we went back to town. Some of the class went skating and others went to the show. Most of us arrived home safely about midnight. What a day! Junior Class Picn ic p Our first class picnic was held September 27th at Lake Aquabi State Park near Indianola. It looked as though everything was going off swell until someone noticed that the weiners were missing. Someone had to drive into lndianola and buy some more. Af- ter we had eaten, we started to play a flashlight game. This ended up with someone getting her long fingernails clipped and all of the teachers getting the Dallas Bumps. This party served as a farewell party for our sponsor, Mr. Hatcher, who left the next morning for the Army. Sophomore Class Party Ol. September 14, 1950, the Sophomores went on a picnic at Red Haw Park. Cars were furnished by Mr. Griie and our sponsor, Mr. Blake. We also had the company of Mr. Blake's wife and daughter, Janet. Our refreshments were pop, hot dogs, po- tato chips, and marshmallows. After we had eaten, we cleaned the shelter house and returned back to Dallas. Soine of us stayed in Melcher and some went to Dallas for choir practice. Everyone reported a good time. We are looking forward to more parties in the future. Freshman Party Our first party of the year was held in October, with Miss Clark as our sponsor. The game and eats committee was chosen by the President. We had oodles of fun with the games we played. Pop, maidrites, and potato chips were served. This was an invitation party, so it included not only the members of the class, but also our friends. -37
