F TURB HOMEMAKER The Future Homemakers of America Club is open to all girls in high school. The advisor is always a home economics teacher. The basic purpose behind the club is to try to have one activity in each of their goals. The goals are as follows: to furnish whole- some recreationg To further better international relations, To participate in activities to better the community, To develop interest in home economics, To further better family relations, To do projects to better ourselves. Among our activities this year was a trip to the District Conference in Vero, a trip to the Tampa State Fair, and a Sweetheart Dance. For the remainder of the year we plan to send three girls to the State Convention and to go all out for F.H.A. Week. During this week, we will attend a church together, have a Mother-Daughter fashion show and tea, learn to make decorative dolls to sell, have a bake sale. She also won first place in the District Oratorical Con- test against the representative from Ft. Pierce. Peggy is a Junior at Mel-Hi and plans 'to go out for De- bate again next year. The last school year has been an especially active one for the members of the Mel- bourne High Debate Team. In February the all girl club traveled to Stetson University to the District Debate Tournament where they emerged victorious as District co-champs. Thus they became eligible for state competition at the University of Florida at Gaines- ville. The competition at the state contest was rugged, to say the least, but the girls did a superior job and felt much richer for the experience. The basic goal of the Debate Club is to encourage students to utilize speaking abilities and to enable young people to speak in public with ease and fluency. Mr. Beaudoin, the sponsor, has worked tirelessly to further this goal. The girls all feel that much of the credit for the success of the team goes to this fine teacher. The entire team plans to sign up next year for another season of debate action, and encourages others to do the same.

CHRI TIA FELLOW HIP The Christian Fellowship Organization is a newly founded club on our campus. This organization was started mainly through the efforts of Mr. Robert Blubaugh, faculty sponsor, and the students Bill Morrison, Irene Crerar, and jewel Evans. The club is devoted to the promotion of better Christian relationships throughout the school and community.
