Third row: Rick Esbensen, Harry Goode, Jr, , Chuck Pierson, ANNUAL STAFF Last September, a bright-eyed, rosy-cheeked group of students were captured in several bear traps set around the new High School building. They were then informed that they would have to produce the biggest and best Annual commemorating Mel- boume High, The staff was then placed under the direction of Mr. Martin Schoppmeyer and Editor Tom Bass, who locked them in a storm cellar, from whence issued occasional reports of progress and pleas for air, After the chains were removed from the door, the staff members slowly emerged gaunt and sere with several pages of copy clutched in their ink-stained fists, After these were forcibly removed from their grasp, they were first studied by several Anthropologists and then sent to the printers. You are now looking at the best available English Translation of their labors.

Diversified Co-operative Training is a program to train high school juniorsf and sen- iors, sixteen years or older, in occupations of their choice, This program utilizes the business and industrial establishments of the community as training agencies. D.C, T, is based on the philosophy that every boy and girl should have the opportu- nity to discover and develop to the fullest, their interests, latent aptitudes and abilities. This enables them to become more valuable citizens with a satisfying feeling of confi- dence and vocational competency. This program was started in. Melbourne High School three years ago, and has had a steady growth since that time.

VOCATION AL BUSINESS EDUCATION The Vocational Business Education program was started in Melboume High School in 1954. The aim of this class, sponsored by Ernest Miller, is to train students in a particu- lar skill and then put the skills into practice on the job. There, they are always under the supervision of capable persons, anxious to help them in learning the business. This program allows students to be placed in jobs individually according to their desires, abilities, and training.
