This year s Mel-Hi team had a rough season as far as the won and lost column was concerned Q2 They do have two consolations, howeverg they won two games and they finished sixth in the Orange Belt Conference, The three main troubles with the varsity this year were: they were inexperienced they lacked support, and they had no gym. Though the Bulldogs didn't win many games, they did improve steadily as the season progressed Melboume s hopes for the future look very bright. The Bulldogs lose only two men, Fred Howard and Charlie Layne, This means Melboume will have eight lettermen back to form a fine nucleus for next year's team, Back again for another season will be Bob Groves in his fourth year and Carl Meyer for his third sea son on the varsity. Carl has always been near the top in scoring and should blossom out in the next two years, Bill Stroud and Jerry Garlock should be greatly improved with a year of varsity play under their belts Also coming back will be Eddie Parson, the freshman flash, Eddie is a certain star of the future. Also returning for their second year will be Chuck Pierson, lim Platt, and lim Ashcraft, At the beginning of the season Coach Maxwell announced Every Bulldog player whose free throw average is 62Q'7n or over in conference play, will receive a trophy, Eddie Parsons qualified and was presented with the trophy at the end of the season, Melbourne was eliminated from the District Five play -offs in the first round by Sanford, The score was 41-39, Carl Meyer led the Bulldogs' scoring with 14 points, -12
