The Eagles were tripped by a score of 23-20, On Friday January 4, the Eagles left the Hotel this time for good when they journeyed west tc Potter. The boys were HOT that night for a victory of 44-28. On Friday January 11, Melbeta Eagles met their old, old rivals, tie Sunflower Eagles, The first half it looked like Sunflower has about everything their own way. The third and fourth quarters the Eagles showed what they were holding back and ended up with a victory of 31-33. January 16, the Melbeta Eagles found themselves vieiting the McGrew Bobcats. McGrew played smrt and safe ball and held the Eagles to a 23-11 vic ory. January 21, on Monday Melbeta went to Bridgeport to try for their third Little Western Conference victory. The Eagles started out with a 35-18 victory over the Dalton boys. In the evening the Eagles lost a close decisionto a fighting Gurley team, 41-39. January 24, Melbeta went into another tournament, this time the tri-county tournament. The Eagles first oppon- et was McGrew. Melbeta won with the second team'leadlng the way 29-16. January 25, Friday the Eagles tangled with a much taller and a much hotter team which was Sunflower. Sunflower won by 43-26. Thursday, January 31, the Eagles entertained the Harris- burg Wildcats.
