Ii. at nic Mnltcta 2551 sclgol, The Seniors were in charge of the initiation with the Juniors helping. The Sophomore: :src '.-1 L?n'l is 3i7 t'J,l.'f'.7, wjrvftu, ' T 'There were six freshmans who went through the fgllgwing proc- edure: branding, spitball, egg shampoo, blowing penny out of dish, hot seat, vaccination, pulling rug out from under them, hand shake and fortune telling. They then all had to push a piece of chalk across the floor with their nose and do the Indian dance. Following this the Seniors treated them to pop andsandwichesf During the day the Freshmans had to come dressed as nFunny Paper Gharacters.n The Pep Club girls held a dance September 28, 1945 to make some money for the treasury. We charged 15 cents a person or 25 cents a couple. We made a total of Q5.45. Everyone spent the evening dancing then refreshments, which consisted of punch and cookies, were served by the Pep Club. The Pep Club sponsored a Halloween party at the Melbeta High School October 31, 1945. The evening was spent playing games Refreshments were served by the girls. The Pep Club girls decided that the new members deserved an initiation so they decided to have it on November 20, 1945 at the gym. There were seven members initiated. After they all initiated the girls played games. At 9 o'clock the Pep Club was served coca and sandwiches. The Pep Club entertained the high school at a Christmas Party and dance on December 15, 1945. Refreshments were served by the girls at the end of the evening. The entire school participated in a program given on Friday night, December 21, 1945 a the Melbe a Gym. The gym was lighted with candles. Si A : A 7' x 'Uv-v.-v,..,,, 'H GLEE CLUB The Melbeta High School Glee Club has been progressing very rapidly this year. We have s number of Negro Spirituals that the boys and girls sing in unison. The girls have a few songs they sing alto and saprano to and the boys have songs that they sing together. ' we are going to start working on solos and duets and every- one will have sung one before the year is out. On the flfteenth of November a group of sirteen went out to Mrs. Ernest Deckinsons to sing. One afternron the Glee Club went up to the clenio in Ger- int to hear other schools practice for a night perfor- mance. - Mrs. Barton is giving a medal at the end of the School term to the girl or boy she thinks has progressed and co- operated the most during our Glee Club period. X During the time between the acts of the Junior Class play the Glee Club sang songs for entertainment. Between the first and second act the girls group sang the two following songs: In the Time of Roses and Loves Old Sweet Song . In between the second and third acts the boys group sang -the two following songs: O1d Black Joe , and All Through. The Nightn. Also between these acts the entire high school Gee Club sang The Bells of St. Mary . This was 'dedicated to Mrs. Reeder, the Junior Class sponsor.
