The Trail Blazer Social Events The Pep Club held a Christmas Party December 14, 1944, at 7:00 P. M. at the Gym. The evening was spent dancing and playing cards. Refreshments were served. The Pep Club sponsored a program No- vember 28, at Melbeta Gym. Pie was sold afterwards. We also sold chances. This made us 257915. A farewell party was given for Howard Corr by the High School at the home of Everett Clayton on January 30. We danced until 10:30 to the music of Mrs. Eva Ross and Betty and Shirley Kauf- man. After the dance, sandwiches, potato chips, cookies and cocoa was served. Everyone helped buy a billfold for Howard. AMATURE HOUR An Amature Hour was held at the Mel- beta Gym December 28, 1944 with Joanne Johns as hostess. Leone Dutton gave a musical reading about the different hats while Mrs. George White played for her. Next came Lois Lab- ertew with her singing violin and was fol- lowed by Brock Dutton who gave a poem I' Glad I'm Not A Girl. The next thing was Darlene Halligan who sang a song which was followed by her brother Calvin Halligan who also sang. Doris Johns gave a musical reading followed by Marilyn Schlothouer who played the accordian. Dortha Johns sang Don't Fence Me In. Glenda Johns was next with a poem. A piano solo was played by Elaine Neal and followed by a song by Buck Neal accom- panied by Elaine. The Pig Club played their kitchen band and was followed by Glenna Regester You'll Never Know. Next and last came a magicians act put on by Wayne Crabill and Dick Dutton. This was all very good and I think every- one enjoyed loosing sleep to come see it. The Sophomores were the judges and they gave Wayne Crabill and Dick Dutton first and Calvin Halligan second. Billie Johns was a clown and just kept going off and on. SENIOR CLASS PLAY The Senior Class Play was held May 15, 1945 at the Melbeta Gym. The name of this play was Black Wings and was put on very well by the Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores. The Cast was as follows: Orphelia Mathews-Glenna Regester. Martha Peterson-Wanda Lawrence. Lily Waters-Joanne Johns. Anne Parks-Lois Labertew. Danial Mathews-Junior Pester. Dr. Pauley-Dwaine Johns. Ralph Geyers-Bernard Schuman. Patrolman-Dick Fullerton. Sound Effects and Prompter-Donaline Crabill. The play was sponsored by Lloyd F Ingwersen, Supt. JUNIOR CLASS PLAY The Junior Class Play was held January 9, 1945. The name of it was Here Comes Charley. This was a very good play and was put over by the Junior Class, two Seniors and two Sophomores. It was sponsored by Mrs. Brouillette. The cast was as follows: Alex Twigs-Junior Pester. Larry Elliott-Dick Lewis. Charley Hopps-Bonnie Johns. Ted Hartley-Wayne Crabill. Nora Malone-Wanda Lawrence. Tim McGril1-Don Parmenter. Mrs. Larry Farnham-Rowena Cochran. Dorothy Parmentcr, Lois Labcrtew, Glenna Regester, Arlene Foster, Elaine Neal, Dortha Johns, Rowena Cochran. Pep Club The Melbeta Pep Club had a very active season this year. They backed the Softball, Basketball and Track teams through-out the entire season and the outstanding event came when the three pep club leaders and two senior girls got to accompany the Basketball team on a trip to Lincoln. On March 23 the Pep Club treated the Basketball Boys to a very nice banquet at the Mclbeta Gym. l91l5
