Hsfely One hot day rn August 1948 seventy one freshmen entered Meigs High School to further their studies Durrng our freshman year we lost fifteen students for various reasons When we entered school rn August 1949 the wise owl class numbered frfry six Many happy and lastrng experiences were ours We were happy to welcome Carol Hutsell into the sophomore class She came to Mergs County High School from Lexington Before the year ended we had lost srx more from the group which enrolled rn the freshman class When we reentered school as Junrors our number had decreased and we had only fifty students rn the Junior class We had many trrals and many happy experrences rn our Junior year When the year had closed we found that our ranks had again decreased and we found that we had lost eight students from our class In the later part of our Junior year we welcomed Peggy Campbell and Wrlbur Franklin into our class We were also glad to welcome Ralph Jarvis back after 10 weeks of servrce rn the Arr Force There were thrrty five students rn our class at the close of our yunror year We were happy to have Charles Herfner enter our class as we began our senior year l-le boosted our number to thrrty six seniors Thrrty four of these have been together through the four years of our lugh school days We were fortunate to have some of the faculty with us during all four years of our study Miss Hannah Norton Mr D B Powell and Mrs T H Jewell Mrs T H Jewell came to the Mr J E Cochrum and Mrs Harry Kroll Jr came during our Junior year Mr Cockrum assumed the positron of prrncrpal after Mr A B Culvahouse resigned as prrnclpal of the school Mr J R Heifner came to our school as principal of the school as the beginning of the 1951 52 term Mrs J R.
