To 11111111111 H11111 51110111 111 11111q111f11111 of 11's 1111r11 1111 1 1 .s 11 I1 1 1 1 111 f1Itl11fl1 1 1 s 1 pr1111111x 11111111111 1 11115 511211 1111111111 LlI'l1l01I .mecbcafion This Silver Jubilee Edition is published in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Mehlville High School in recognition of its almost incredible growth since its humble beginning in 1925 when four freshmen students attended classes taught by two teachers 1n the St John Building Supt Emil H C Bernard now completing his fortieth year as an educator was superintendent of the district principal of the grade school principal of the high school and teacher of general science and algebra during the first year of Mehlville High Schools existence Although the original intention of Board Members Henry Wiethop Louis Franke and William Crecehus was to set up only a Junior high school at Mehlville the school made headway and graduated Florence Fuchs and Leona Guehring in 1930 Thus in five years Mehlville had a first class high school with sixteen units of work approved As a result of the tremendous growth of the community the influx of non resident students and the guiding hand of Mr Bernard and other leaders the high school outgrew its housing facilities necessi a ing plant expansion So in November 1939 came the Exodus from St John to the present high school building The school has added the services of additional teachers a full time principal and new units of instruction as it has grown Today it employs thirteen teachers and numerous other personnel and offers 38 units to 301 students Page F we 7 .
