C971 cgaaculty MISS WILLIAMSON CCHIEF YOEMANJ An alumna of our arch rival Hancock Hxgh M1ss Williamson has enjoyed her first year at Mehlvllle where she IS teachmg all the commerclal subjects Four years at Southeast Mlssourl State College have furmshed Mlss Wllhamson with the greater part of her teacher s tralnlng However a summer at Den ver Un1vers1ty aided ln the formatlon of her teachmg philosophy MISS Wxlllamson sponsors the Mehl H1 News and the junlor class but she st1ll finds time to enjoy her h0bbl6S of readlng and sewmg MRS LEONARD QCOMMISSARY STEWARDESSD Mrs Leonard our vocatlonal home economlcs and art teacher received her B S Degree at Southeast MISSOUFI State College and spent an addltlonal summer at Mlssourl UDlV6FSlty to further her educatlon A veteran of two years of teachmg Mrs Leonard IS a welcome add1t1on to the Mehlvllle campus where she IS co sponsor of the j11n1or class She IS well llked by all Mehlvllle and strangely enough enjoys sewlng as her hobby MR SCHMIDT CBAN DMAS TER l Our favorlte Mehlvllle muslclan IS Mr Schmidt who has taught here for several years off and on Uncle Sam may be blamed for the off and on clause for lt was he who called upon Mr Schmidt to serve h1s country Culver Stockton College of Canton MISSOUTI furnished Mr Schmidt with h1s Bachelor of Arts Degree ln Muslc At Northwestern Un1vers1ty f Evanston Ill1no1s he recelved upon the termmatlon of hls army tenure a refresher course 1n the field of music teaches muslc English speech and dramatlcs whlch along wlth hlS many extracurricular 3CtlVltleS such as sponsor1ng the sophomore class and all the s1ng1ng groups leaves him little lelsure t1me MR WOODS QPHARMACIST S MATEJ After Mr Woods graduated from the Pierce Clty H1gh School he came to St Lou1s to attend Washmgton Un1vers1ty He d1d further academlc work at South west MISSOUTI State College and at Oklahoma A and M Mr Woods first teachmg was done 1n Ava Mis SOUYI Here he was employed for three years The war found hlm working ln defense plants throughout Ohlo and M1ssour1 In the fall of 1945 Mr Woods returned to the teachmg professlon At that txme he became a member of the Mehlville facultv teachmg all science courses MRS RUTTER CDRILL MASTER! Clark Hlgh School 1n Mxssourl has furnished us wlth our girls physxcal educatlon teacher Mrs Rutter She also rexgns over the study hall Northeast MISSOUTI State College served as Mrs Rutters home for four years whlle she was receiving her major 1n physical educatlon She IS now worklng on her Master s Degree at MISSOUFI Un1vers1ty An advocate of fresh air and exercise Mrs Rutter enjoys her lelsure tlme fishing and horseback Tldlhg MR GENTRY QCARPENTERS MATEJ Our veteran wood carver IS Mr Gentry who teaches 1ndustr1al arts Mr Gentry recelved a B S Degree ln chemlstry and mdustrxal arts from Southeast Missouri State College ln engmeering at Mlssourz Un1vers1ty and further study at the Un1vers1ty of Mlnnesota he sup plemented h1s educatlon Fxve enjoyable years at Umverslty City Hxgh School are often recalled by Mr Gentry and h1s years of war work were equally as 1nterest1ng Mr Gentry enjoys hunting fishing and yes shop work durlng his leisure t1me MRS BARRETT CNAVIGATORJ Two colleges have housed the numerable talents of Mrs Barrett our popular mathematxcs and English IV teacher They are Northwest M1ssour1 State College and MISSOUFI Un1vers1ty the latter from whlch she graduated w1th a BS Degree 1n Education After teachmg for three years at Cornlng MISSOUTI Mrs Barrett was marrled as the title 1nd1cates and became a housewife When her husband entered the army she served as a substitute 1n the St Louis Public Schools She came to Mehlvllle ln 1945 Mrs Barrett IS a person to be envled by many for her hobby IS her job attemptlng to persuade the stu dents of Mehlvllle to love mathematics as she loves lt MR STEWART CATHLETIC SPECIALISTD A new addltxon to our faculty IS Mr Stewart our coach who IS m charge of boys physlcal educatlon and teaches c1v1cs and health The army delayed Mr Stewarts education for three and one half years He graduated from South east MISSOUTI State College 1n 1946 and IH the fall of 1947 came to Mehlvllle where he IS well llked by everyone Mr Stewart enjoys the out of doors and v1rtually any form of athletlcs MRS WELTY Mrs Welty graduated from W1ll1s Hlgh School Delaware Ohio to WhlCh she later returned 1n a teachmg capacity She recelved her B S Degree 1n Educatlon at Ohio State Umversltv and IS str1v1ng toward an M A Degree at Washington Un1vers1ty St Louis Mrs Welty has had much teach1ng experlence and IS currently ln her second year at Mehlvllle where ln add1t1on to teachmg French and Engllsh she SUpeI'VlSeS the llbrary Music llterature and traveling are the hobbies of Mrs Welty MRS DIVERS CSHIPS CLERKJ A graduate of Mehlvllle Hlgh School 1n 1944 Mrs Dlvers took a business course at Mxssourx Buslness School and returned to Mehlville as school secretary m 1945 She l1kes to keep other people happy and our attractive secretary eases some of the discomfort of belng sent to the office MR FOX CSHARPSHOOTER7 Mehlville 1S honored th1s year by the presence of Mr Fox a graduate of Ferguson High School Sprlngfield College Massachusetts and Southeast Mlssourl State College may boast of hls presence wlthm thelr halls durmg his study of physlcal educatlon and social studles F1ve years ln the army followed by a term at Cape Glrardeau and a year of teachmg at St Marys High School Cape Glrardeau preceded h1s coming to Mehl v1lle Mr Fox IS teachmg soc1al studies and servmg as assistant coach H15 hobbles are h1s son Sklpper and radio not just llstemng to lt either Page Elf en , - - ' , I , I . .
