MABLE CLANAHAN TAYLOR I was born to Allen and Nelhe Clanahan January 2 1911 rn the Brtter Creek commumty rn Young County I had three brothers but only one rs l1v1ng now My mother and father are both gone so my brother and I are the only ones left IH our famlly We moved just 1ns1de the Spr1ng Creek school d1str1ct so my oldest brother and I walked or rode a horse the two m11es to school We attended school at Sprung Creek untll school was out then to Bltter Creek School for two months I had a lot of frlends ln both communrtres We attended Smgmgs at Brtter Creek School House every Sunday nrght People from everywhere came to smg and lrsten We had a wonderful trme We also had partles Everyone knew everyone else we were all good frlends My oldest brother and I drove a Ford to Olney Hrgh School He flnlshed hlgh school ln 1928 My parents then rented a room rn Megargel for Lmnre graduated rn 1929 In 1932 I marrled Ray Taylor and moved to Graham Texas We have two boys One l1ves 1n Graham and one lrves ln Arlrngton Texas In 1964 I lost my husband I went to nlght school and worked all day to send my chrldren to school I kept books for about 15 years Then I took a job carlng for a drsabled person for about frve years In 1976 I closed my home and went to lrve wrth my son 1n Arllngton to help hrm w1th hrs four chlldren 12 6 3 and 7 months I started three 1n school and stayed for twelve years At the end of school May 31 1988 I moved back to my home 1n Graham Texas My youngest grandson comes and stays all the tlme he has out of school I am now gorng on my 79th year feelrng good except a plnched nerve rn my back and a few old age complalnts whlch I get aggravated about because I can't do everythmg I want to do Gray and I. We did our own cooking, and attended school in Megargel, and ' 7 ' 5 3
