It makes us lead- ers of the school, that privileged group whose position we’ve awaited for three years. We have gone from giggling freshmen to confident, ma- ture, Seniors with pride. The word Senior also brings emotions of the glorious times of the past to the frightful new future ahead of us. There will always be the memories to look back on. The first day of high school ... championships and defeats ... spec- tacular _Homecomings and winning floats ... snow fights in the commons. With these memories and many more in mind, we will go out the doors of MHS, as Seniors, for the last time. Officers are as follows: Bottom row, left to right: Vice President — Bev Bedford, President — Jim Stiffler. Back row, left to right: Treasurer — Ingrid Rios, and Secretary — Luann Sailer. They started off with a beautifully designed float but lost competition to a slightly superior Senior float. They then proceeded to raise over two thousand dollars in one week by selling candles. The Juniors also made money by running the concession stand at football, basketball games and wrestling matches. The money went towards the Junior-Senior banquet and Prom. Music 139 BS, SRSA COE ROE NA NMR te Hello, Dolly! What happens when three days before opening night the lead in this year’s musical developed laryngitis and there was no understudy? The answer was simple. Last minutes changes were made on Tuesday night and when the show opened on Thursday, April 1, senior Becky Thomas appeared on stage, fresh and lively, the perfect picture of Dolly Levi, but she never uttered a sound — both singing and dialogue were dubbed in. By Friday, Becky was able to do her own lines, but Junior Dot Klopp continued to handle the singing throughout all four shows. Becky’s exaggerated actions and pantomiming on stage, plus Dottie’s fine soprano voice, proved to be the perfect combination for Medina’s special, emergency dual characterization for the lead in “‘Hello, Dolly!” Despite the unusual problems, a highly talented cast and fast-paced action and choreography kept this year’s musical running smoothly. 1. Steve Cotter and Keith Mains pause momentarily as waiters in the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant before continuing in the dancer’s rendition of the “Waiters’ Gallop.” 2. Cornelius and Barnaby (Bill McDade and Vince Masi) display the large sum of money they have just found in the restaurant. The roll of bills makes it easier for them to impress their dates Mrs. Molloy (Holly Yehnert) and Minnie (Cindy Prochaska) on their big night out in New York City. 3. The shock of Horace Vandergelder (John Wilson) excellently shows his feelings as Dolly Levi (Becky Thoman) teasingly says good-bye in ‘‘So long, Dearie.” 4. Dolly is the center of attention, as well as the singing and dancing, as she joins the men’s chorus of the Concert Choir and they delight the audience with the show’s hit, title song, “Hello, Dolly!” 5. Dolly’s master-minded maneuvering of Horace pays off in the end as they sing together the opening section of the “Finale.” 6. Mrs. Molloy and Cornelius stop on the streets of New York to give their interpretation of the elite society in “Elegance.” 7. Dolly’s multi-talents help her win the heart of the judge in the emotional scene in the courtroom. Ermengarde (Valerie Brockway) wails her familiar cry of despair, as Ambrose Kemper (Todd Bixler) tries to comfort her. Rudolph (Jeff Jessie) and Ernestina (Judy Burridge) look on sympathetically. 8. Barnaby and Minnie overcome their shyness and take a firm stand together against Horace in the last scene. 9. Concert Choir members Kim Imig, Donna Boyer, and Cindy Watkins, join in the singing of “Before the Parade Passes By.”’ 10. The stage is full of people and the auditorium resounds with music as the full cast sings a medley of “Hello, Dolly!” tunes to take their final bows. 140 Musical A The Miss-Minded Mariners singing ““There’s Nothing Like a Dame” Bill McDade sings ‘You'll Never Walk Alone” to Kim Imig “If I Were a Rich Man,” wishes Bart Rapp Laurie Huff and Todd Bixler yearn for “An Old Fashioned Wedding” 142 Showtime Judy Burridge and Greg Huber think “It’s A Fine Life” Dot Klopp, Beth Freese, Cindy Prochaska, and Vicki Dorrel “Enjoy Being Girls”’ 5 iia Laura Finley gets off on ‘Doin’ Freshmen Ensemble are all looking for guys in ‘““Matchmaker’”’ What Comes Natur’lly” Showtime 143 { THANK 7, FOR VisiTI 144 Clubs Clubs Medinian Left to right: K. Senior GAA members dressed their little sis’s up and the school was swarmed with freshmen members clowning around in their costumes. The club went on a trip to Wooster for some roller skating and managed to create a skit for SPICE. GAA ended its year with a picnic at the pavillion and new officers for 1976-77 were elected.
