Languages, as everyone knows, play a major role in achieving better communications between countries. With such modern aides as the lan- guage lab, MHS students are learning to be the diplomats of tomorrow. Languages include studies in German, Latin, French, and Spanish, to give each student the choice he desires. English, a required course for every student in the first three years, can also be made interesting. English projects, such as those by the seniors, have helped make the times of the past come alive. The student is able to acquire a solid knowledge of lands abroad, as well attaining the basics of grammar and spelling. Speech and dramatics, is a course often ignored when thoughts of language courses arise. An elective, speech offers the student interested in pursuing the finer points of debate, dramatics, and public speaking, a good background. In the course of the year, plays were written and produced, the art of makeup studied, and a wide range of speeches written and presented to the individual classes. 9
