It is companionship, solitude. It is determination, the striving for goals. It is promise, persistence, progress, and achievement. It is also pride, both in victory and defeat. A successful yearbook is one that fulfills its obligation to the student and to the school by preserving the history of the school year. Such a record pictures students discovering new talents and interests, creating new ideas during participation in extracurricular activities, and experiencing growth in order to establish themselves as mature individuals. The staff sincerely hopes that you, the reader, will begin this volume with great antici- pation of re-living both joyful times and thoughtful moments. If, during this renewal of your memories of the past year, you find that the pursuits of both the faculty and the students have been accurately portrayed, then we shall have succeeded. The year was filled with the usual number of fads, such as short skirts, beatle haircuts, and the Tijuana Brass. Common topics of student conversations were athletic victories and defeats, numerous scholastic accom- plishments, new building accommodations, the history of Medina project, and the pre- sentation of “Eli.” All will look back on this past year and remember the war in Vietnam, the soft land- ing on the moon of Surveyor I, and the election of Mrs. Ghandi as Prime Minister of India. The War on Poverty program, “The Great Society,” draft-card burners, and “Marches” also achieved top news priority. The extension of I-71, a new building complex on Route 18, and the naming of local coaches “Mayor for a Day’’ made top news items locally. The Editor wishes to extend sincere appreciation to fellow staff members, advertising patrons, photographers, the Gazette Leader Post, and you, the subscriber, for making this book possible. It is our hope that you will treasure this volume and its many memories. The year has departed, but its essence will linger through may scenes captured especially for you. —Jane Effinger, Editor . 7 J = — ee ee ee i ee | ) oo ae eae Upc TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY “The World’s Best Yearbooks Are Taylor-made” wit Mia ty aay ani ay yA A | KO i itt wet on Ete botow ee
