September, i944-a big day! Why? Because we began our Freshman year at Medina High, and became officially known as the Class of '48. That was an exciting year, one full of new experiences, sometimes not entirely pleasant, for we began to realize what a little bit of responsibility can mean. Studies seemed difficult and grades discouraging until we became adjusted to the routine and perhaps some of us have never quite managed that yet. Needless to say study wasn't all we did in that big year. There was the fun of actually being invited to and belonging to extraecurricular groups. derfully inviting we scarcely could decide and some of us didn't do much eliminating past schedules. Our Sophomore and Junior years passed each more swiftly than the other, and we found ourselves swept deep into a whirlpool of events with little time to evaluate or plan for the future. Now, as Seniors, we are only too aware that soon it will be over to remain just a memory-Va memory of four swell years at M. H, S. I0 all high school activities, Everything was so won- what we wanted to join, by the appearance of our Memories are mostly pleasant things Things we want to remember And the ones we have of high school days Will live onfas a burning ember. Our Freshman year was one big thrill Excitement and good times galore And a new experience with books that proved That we must study much more. Our Sophomore year was next in line And spirits were soaring high For soon we gained some of the confidence We'll need as the years go by. A chance to display our talents came ln the next, our Junior year With the annual, and prom, and stadium sale Our ingenuity became very clear. As Seniors we are working hard For now we're looking ahead And cramming these months as full as can be 'Cause the end of this year we dread. So quickly let us make c toast As they go fleeting by To four years full of memories Gained here-in Medina High. Mary C. Newber Jean Ann Anderson Topcy JY Raymond B Auker Roy Wulllam Adams Richard E. Bob Voshall Juniors Are Really Busy Bees! Having worked together for almost three years, the class of '49' has accomplished many important things. Highlighting the events of our Freshman year was the fact that we were second in the bond drive. Our Sophomore year brought a very successful Valentine dance and an undefeated and untied Rinkydink team. During our third year most of the girls belong to the G.A.A. That calls for attendance at the GAA. football banquet. A few girls also belong to G,L.C., while the boys take part in many activities such as Hi-Y, football, basketball, baseball, track, and gym teams. The majority of the fellows and girls belong to at least one or more of the musical groups. The whole class gets together for the prom, the production of the annual, and the selection of our class ring. We sponsored one big party for all of the high school, along with our other parties. The prom and annual are the biggest things of the year and we all hope that they will be the best ever. May all students coming up have as much fun as we had. Dave Ellis Student Council Representative ,,.,,,,..,,, Jim Holden is0,DlllDlll0I'0S Buzz Along . We were a normal class and when we swarmed into the hive we were as green as any other class, First of all, as is the custom, we elected our officers, Those lucky kids were Ed Dornbirer, president, Frank Mora, vicevpresident, Dick Parish, secretary-treasurer, and Jim l-lolden, student council representative. With that out of the way, we didn't have anything else to do so we planned a class party, Everyone had a swell time. The fellows went out for football and basketball and made the grade. The girls, not to be slighted, represented us in G.A.A., Y-Teens and many other activities. Thanks to our sponsors, Mr, Linn, Mr, Plank, and Miss l-litzelberger-everything went much better than anyone expected. Summer just flew by and we found ourselves back in the groove again, but this time not so green. Again we elected officers and this time they were Dick Parish, president, Joyce Anderson, vice-president, Dave Ellis, secretary-treasurer, and Jim l-lolden, stu- dent council representative. For once the girls were lucky and got one of their number into officef We went out for the same activities as last year, and many more, but we are a modest class. There were a few more class parties and a dance sponsored for the high school, With our sponsors, Mr, Demuth, Miss Clift and Miss Jackson, helping us, we succeeded in climbing another rung of the ladder of success. Duke, the vocational agriculture teacher, with the purpose of teaching boys who intend to become farmers the best methods of modern farming. With a number of different and interesting projects from which to choose, each boy is required to have at least one project each year and must keep an accurate record of it. To further supplement their text book knowledge, the boys go on field trips which teach them new methods of farming by actual contact with them. During the past year five boys have cooperated with fertilizer companies of this area to improve pastures, Twenty-two of the boys have purebred dairy heifers and the entire group of boys participates in the vocational shop program making farm implements of varied types. Not only do the boys gain knowledge from the proj- ect work but they also earn fairly large sums of money. Max Rohrbaugh's grand champion winner brought him over four hundred dollars, Others earn between six and eight hundred dollars a year. OFFICERS President ........................
