Maybe it was the excitement of going to school at last that made kindergarten remain in our memory forever. But we think Miss Ella, whose cheerfulness and kindness made a dreary day seem bright, was the one who made us remember. Thank you, Miss Ella. Another important event in our year is the Junior-Senior banquet which we also have the responsibility of preparing. For many Juniors and Seniors this stands as one ofthe most important evenings in all our high school life. Another task which is thrust on our shoulders is the producing of the annual. They play diligently during every noon hour. March twenty-second was the date of their spring concert for which they played the very difficult overture l8l2. Mary Catherine Newberry did an outstanding solo, Concerto for Tympani for the winter music festival in December. On only ten minutes' notice this band plays before our assemblies. lt is ably led by Mr. Vance O'Donnell. The junior band is composed of high school and junior high students. It is from this organization that the concert band obtains its players. lts members practice every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at the early hour of eight o'clock. Under their direction there are paper drives every six weeks and the usual Wed- nesday noon dancing. They helped to dec- orate the Christmas tree and some of the home rooms at the Christmas season. They have also bought a camera for the photog- raphy club. One of the hi-lights this year was the Homecoming Parade and Dance. ln the parade were posters and floats supporting the new school bond issue, which was passed by the voters by a wide margin. A new activity was the Activities Ban- quet tor band, orchestra, chorus, glee clubs, Choralettes, Harmonaires, and basketball teams. Whether Medina was winning or losing, those girls were out there giving their very best. The whole school is very proud of the senior cheerleaders. it TOMMY DOYLE HENRY LEE BUCEY as Letterman Fairview 26-Medina 0 Well, Medina didn't win its first game, but they cer- tainly didn't fold. The hard work that Coaches Hollinger and Rudes put the squad through at camp and at the stadium certainly paid divi- dends in that not a player was taken out because of injury. Although the Bees lost, they gained a lot of ex- perience which aided them very much throughout the season. The backfield and line both did exceptionally well against the big, fast Fairview team. Coventry 6-Medina 7 To say that the Bees looked better than the week before is putting it mildly. They blocked and tackled their way to victory, with Veesart scoring Medino's only touchdown, and Spencer kicking the winning point. Rittman 20-Medina 20 Even if Medina was the smaller, slower, less-rated team, they still beat the dope to tie and nearly beat Rittman. With the line opening the holes and the backfield taking full advan- tage of them, Medino's l-lenschel, Doyle, and Weber went over for touchdowns. DOUG HANSHUE ROBERT SPENCER CLAYTON VEESART HAROLD CASEY MAYNARD BAUER 5 t JE' N' v 'W D' Letterman Wellington I9-Medina 0 Although Medina was de- feated, they went down fighting. Since it was the Dukes' dedication game, it seems their powerful team fought harder than ever. Almost all the second team got in the last half and still the Dukes didn't run wild. Copley 32-Medina 7 Our team lost, but again our boys went down fighting by scoring their only touch- down in the last quarter of the game. Henschel made this touchdown by cutting off his own left guard and running 54 yards for Medina's only score. Doyle tallied for one more point. Spencer, Doyle, and Hen- schel shared the honors for the touchdowns, and Bucey made the two conversions to make the final tally Medina 26 and Brecksville 7. JAMES NAVRATIL DEAN KENDALL HAROLD JOHNSON ADRIAN ROOY Letterman New London 26-Medina 7 The Bees lost another game even though they came back in the second half and outpassed, outran, and outployed New London. The tirst-half score was too great. Medina's only touch- down came in the third quarter when Spencer shot a pass to Doyle who went over to score. Amherst 7-Medina 20 Medina gave her home- coming queen a hearty wel- come by beating the Am- herst Comets by a l3-point margin. Henschel not only gave the queen flowers but he also gave her three touch- downs and a conversion. Veesort went over for an- other conversion to complete the victorious night. Wadsworth 7-Medina I2 It was Dads' Night at the game, and the Dads as well as some 2,300 other fans were on edge as the Bees dug in and played hard, driving football to win from their traditional school riv- als. Medina won, but for a while it looked bad tor her, as Wadsworth led by 7-O, then 7-6. Then Henschel come through with two touchdowns to win the game.
