COMPUTERS AT MEDINA This year, Medina School acquired six Apple II e computers and various software to be utilized by the students for learning, skill-building, and recreation. These computers are used by students ranging from kindergarten to senior levels, and even by the teachers. At this time, use of the computers is limited because computer literacy is not included in the curriculum; however, it is projected that next year it will be added. This program will not only allow students to improve their computer skills, but it will also help teachers in learning to program the computers with data pertaining to their teaching and study areas. Although the future use of the computers is skeptical, the faculty is already planning for them to generate testing. Testing to determine scholastic levels is a common procedure, but often lengthy and time-consuming on both the part of the students and the teachers. These tests, such as C.O.M.P. and Pegasus, can be given to the newer students then evaluated to determine specific needs, by the computer, but with no hassle. The computers would even have the ability to compare and contrast scores in ratios. With this type of help and the many more planned uses, the computers will prove to be a definite asset to our schools. Willie Shedd and Donald Weiland try out the newest software 10
