Its object is to provide an opportunity for these more competent performers to play in ensemble music of a higher grade of difficulty and musical value than is possible in the smaller local-school groups.

It’s purpose is similar to that of the County Band; to provide an opportunity for the most competent players from a number of schools to play music of a higher grade than is possible in the smaller local school orchestras.
