PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE This yearbook portrays an exciting year in the life of Medicine Hat High School, its people and events. This is a time to make thoughtful reflections, as well as a time to think of the future. We had many outstanding experiences this year. Student Council was extremely active in governing student affairs, promoting school spirit fmany spirit weeksl, having school dances and having all of us participate in MOGA. Our school teams were again successful in bringing honor to the school. Outstanding among the championships was the girls' basketball team who brought to Medicine Hat High School its first provincial Basketball Championship. The Arts had a remarkable year as well, with excellent performances by drama, and the band. School Art was exceptional. Academically, our school marks are among the best in the province. This year marked the graduation of our first S.E.A.L. class. To the two hundred seventy-five graduating grade XII,s I extend very best wishes for the future! You can go forward in confidence, knowing that you have received a quality education. I extend best wishes to all students who will be returning next year. May you find your goals of happiness, and progress toward a high school diploma fulfilled. I have enjoyed being your principal, and my association with Hat High. My aim was to make a difference. I trust I have achieved it. D. J. Beresh Principal Special Note: Our School has lost a hardworking administrator, when Dr. Beresh, our Principal, resigned to take a new posting as Assistant-Superintendent for our School District 876. Medicine Hat High School has benefitted greatly under the leadership of Dr. Beresh. We have had a number of new and successful innovations in our make-up and have improved and varied other systems within our school. We, the students, the teaching staff, the support staff, and the Yearbook committee wish Dr. Beresh much success and fulfillment in his new position with the Medicine Hat School District 376. GOOD LUCK TO YOU, SIR!!!

At this time, we would like to apologize for the few errors that will be found in this book. Unfortunately, time did not permit us to proofread this project more than once. We would like to thank our advisor, Mr. Rodnunskyg a special thank you to Mr. Bahnmiller, our photographer, say good luck to the grads, welcome all 1988-89 students and say thank you to all who helped us out in any way. HHS sr DE Tcou CIL PRE IDE T What would school be without sports, clubs, organizations, and social functions? Can you imagine only looking forward to the academics of school and not the dance or football game Friday night? Student Council is the lifeforce behind a school's morale and esprit de corps . It pulls the 1300 and some students of this school into one loyal unit. As the 1987-88 president of this year's council, I, along with all its members, have truly experienced a year of great success. Exciting dances, outrageous group activities, as well as revision of the student council doctrine were a few of the many successful endeavors accom- plished this year. The hours of free time our representatives from the four grade levels contributed accounted for the success of this year's council. I hope that this enthusiasm from the students and council continues in the future. There are several parties that I must acknowledge for their unrelenting support and effort. First of all to the student council members, your hard work made this year that which it was, to Dr. Beresh for bending over backward anytime the student council needed assistance, and finally, to the student body for becoming involved with the many activities throughout the year. You are the backbone of the school and you alone can make your high school days a time to remember. It is hard to believe that I have spent six years at this institution and it is a little bit frightening to think that I will be leaving it. To my fellow graduates best of luck, and to the returning students remember always be yourself and never surrender your principles.
