DEDICATIO The Yearbook Staff is pleased to dedicate this year's Yearbook to Mr. Paul Pleskie Cupon his retirementj and Mr. Ron Zablocki Ctransferring to a more challenging positionj. Our School has been privileged, during its years of existence, to have had and have many excellent teachers. Two such teachers are Mr. Pleskie and Mr. Zablocki. They have given many long years of dedicated service to the students who have passed through our School System. We are very sorry to lose such stalwart teachers, but are very happy to be able to wish Mr. Paul Pleskie many fulfilling years in his retirement and Mr. Ron Zablocki much success in all his future endeavours. Paul Pleskie June, 1987, saw the end of an era as Mr. Paul Pleskie retired after twenty-four years in the Vocational Education Department of M.H.H.S. He was the last of the original eight Vocational Education Teachers who came from industry into the new Medicine Hat Voca- tional High School which opened in September, 1963. Mr. Pleskie was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan in November, 1929 and began his teaching career in rural Saskatchewan in September, 1947, after six weeks of Normal School training in Saskatoon. His teaching career first ended in Redwater, Alberta, in 1947 when he decided to enter the automobile repair business, and thus use his skills as a journeyman welder, a journeyman auto- mechanic and a journeyman auto-body repairman. In 1956, Paul Pleskie was married and from this union he was blessed with three sons, Peter, Eddy and Alan. After twelve years in business, he returned to teaching, this time in Medicine Hat at the new Medicine Hat Vocational High School - HAuto 22 in Lab 158. Mr. Paul Pleskie has a great talent and ingenuity for making machines work. His designs for shop units were unique, useful and functional. He was always ready to assist others sort out their mechanical problems. Mr. Pleskie is a quiet unassuming man, who shared his talents with those who asked for assistance. Paul's quiet humor had to be listened for. Humorous remarks were often unnoticed by many who weren't paying enough attention to the conversation. Mr. Pleskie remembers with pride the many students and staff members with which he has been associated. All of his former stue dents were just passing through and now he considers himself fortu- nate to be able to reflect on the past years and think to himself that he too was just passing through and now a different life style lies ahead. Ronald Gerald Zablocki Born - July 12, 1938, Calgary, Alberta. Education - Calgary Public School System, Elementary - Several Schoolsg Junior High - Colonel Walker, Senior High - Western Can- ada Highg University - Montana State College, B.Sc., 19645 Montana State University, M.Ed., 1970. While in public school never dreamed of being a teacher, wanted to be a professional football player. Enjoyed all sports, and eventually enrolled in the Faculty of Physical Education at Montana State College, Bozeman, Montana. I began my teaching career in 1965 at Moore, Montana, just 150 km. 190 milesj east of Great Falls. I taught Junior and Senior Social Studies and Senior High Physical Education, coached football and J.V. basket- ball. In the fall of 1966 I began teaching at Hat High as the only male Physical Education instructor, that is because the P.E. Department totalled two teachers, 1 female, 1 male. I taught Physical Education and coached soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and field. I moved to Alexandra Junior High in the fall of1972, but returned to Hat High in the fall of 1976 as a vice-principal-teacher. I am married, have two children and still to this day enjoy sports of all sorts . May 1 say to the staff members and students that I will never forget my days at Hat High, they were truly great. 'KTHANKS FOR THE MEMORIESH!!! Zab
