We are in our fourth year in honouring a member of our Teaching Staff as the Master Teacher of M.H.H.S. for the year 1986-87. After three successful students' surveys during 1983-1986 the 1986-87 survey was equally gratifying. This year's teacher, that topped the polls, was Mrs. Spencer. Mrs. Spencer writes: It is a great honour to be selected by the student body of Medicine Hat High School as Master Teacher for1986-87. With astaff of such fine teachers, it is doubly rewarding to be singled out for this recognition. Unlike most of you, I'm an import to Alberta. My hometown, where I was born and educated is located in the heart of the picturesque Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. After graduating from high school there, I attended the University of Maine and in 1976 graduated as class president with a Bachelor of Science in Education Imajors in History, English, Psychology, and Junior High Education! and a summa cum laude. My parents, both teachers themselves, were delighted to have me return to teach in a neighbouring town in Nova Scotia. In 1979 I joined the Canadian Armed Forces and presently hold Captain 's rank. When my husband was posted west in 1980 we were initiated to the arid summers and chilly winters of Cold Lake and then in 1984 we brought our three children to CFB Suffield and so into your community. Perhaps the easiest way to express m y feelings for you and this school is to impart the news that my husband has recently resigned from the Air Force so that I may stay here and continue to teach at M.H.H.S. As for my philosophy of teaching - it is a simple but workable one. My teaching stems from three beliefs: 'people need to see their own seU' worth success breeds success and we learn only from those we love. Throughout the past three years I have learned so much from you. I look forward to the times ahead at M . H. H . S. May all your lives be a learning experience!! The students, parents and School Board No. 76 are very fortunate to have this outstanding educator in our district. E IOR HIGH PRE IDE T Another year has sped by us. It seems like only yesterday that we started our first year at MHHS. As president, I must say that this year was hectic. There were some failures, which is to be expected, but successful events outweighed these by far. The student council and executive members have been helpful throughout the year, and I thank them for this. Our school had to say goodbye to an excellent leader, our friendly and outspoken vice-principal, Mr. Zablocki. I am sure we will all miss him, but we say Good luck, Mr. Zab, and thanks for all your help throughout the year. ' ' To my fellow graduands: I would like to wish you good luck in the future. To those students who will return to MHHS: remember that high school is the best time of your life, so get involved! I would like to wish next year's student council the best of luck, and I thank all my friends who stuck by me all year.
